I usually don’t expect to see anything serious about “work” on Comedy Central, but this recent interview with John Kao caught my eye. He appeared recently on the Colbert Report to discuss his new book, Innovation Nation.
Have a look as John Kao explains how he feels that America has lost its innovative edge.

(As a guy who used to work in electronics design & manufacturing, and watched as all those jobs trickled away to Asia, I am in complete agreement – we are not the country we once were.)
In the interview, Dr. Kao speaks about America’s current complacency, and contrasts the way America used to educate & innovate, versus the way our country does the job today - that is, not as well as we used to. (Nice to know I’m not the only one thinking that!) He also compares America to other countries such as Finland & China, which now have national strategies for innovation.
A very provocative interview, and a book that looks well worth reading.
Here’s to the future – a future in which America plays a part as the innovative force we once were, and can be again.
